Schmuhl Seals Win at Luxy
Luxemburg, WI (October 5th, 2025) - 2025 Champion Hayden Schmuhl showed why he is one of the best, picking up the first of three non-points races in the post season for the Midwest Legends Dirt Series at Luxy Raceway.
A slightly smaller car count of seventeen showed up to Luxy Raceway, with regulars such as the Mechs, Zellmers, and Fassbenders all pulled away by weddings. Regulars such as Nate Werner, the Careys, and more did make the trip, ready to do battle.
Two N&S Towing heat races were up first, with Schmuhl taking the win in a chaotic first race. Eric Blumer and Cal Swenson rounded out the top three in heat one.
Heat two saw Art Hahn stay strong to pick up the win. Talyn Neuman tried his best to work by but was unsuccessful, while Chris Sleep stayed back to finish third.
An experimental six-car redraw started Hahn on the pole with Sleep to his outside. Green flew and Sleep got the jump while Hahn ran into issues. Sleep did not hold the lead long as Blumer broke by on lap two for the top spot. Neuman followed Blumer through and moved to second, holding behind the leader, waiting for his time to strike. The top two grew a gap but quickly were reeled in by Schmuhl, who began closing in on them. Schmuhl closed in and it became a three-car fight for the win. Blumer led the group into lapped traffic. Blumer was able to navigate the first group of cars, but got held up by the next group, allowing Schmuhl, who had passed Neuman a lap prior, to slip by and take over the lead. Blumer would try to fight back but Schmuhl was strong on the bottom and Blumer had to focus on keeping the second spot away from Neuman.
Out front, Hayden Schmuhl drove off into the night sky, picking up the win, his second at the track, which funny enough were both non-points nights. Blumer was able to hold off Neuman and the duo picked up second and third place finishes. Swenson came home a strong fourth, and a rare Cody Apfelbeck, returning to the legend class, came home fifth.
The win awarded Schmuhl contingency rewards from Aero Race Wheels and Rush Race Gear. Nate Wolbers brought home the hard charger spot, up seven positions after having a rough heat race and starting at the back.
The MLDS is back in action this coming Friday night at Hawkeye Downs Speedway. A once in a lifetime opportunity for drivers to get onto the track that almost never has dirt on it is up for them.
