Unfavorable Weather Postpones Governor’s Cup at Magnolia to October 9-11
(Eastaboga, AL - July 9, 2025) – Due to consistent rainfall this week and an unfavorable forecast heading into the weekend, officials with Magnolia Motor Speedway and the Crate Racin’ USA Dirt Late Model Series have made the difficult decision to postpone this weekend’s 22nd Annual Governor’s Cup in Columbus, Mississippi.
Originally scheduled for July 10-12, the prestigious event will now take place on October 9-11, maintaining its $10,000-to-win payday for the Rogers-Dabbs Performance Parts Crate Racin’ USA Dirt Late Model Series competitors.
“After evaluating the track conditions and the ongoing forecast, we felt this was the best decision for our teams, fans, and staff,” CRUSA Series Director Adam Stewart said. “Magnolia has already received a significant amount of rain this week, and more is expected over the next several days, creating conditions that would severely impact the quality and safety of the event.”
This marks the fifth Crate Racin’ USA event impacted by weather in 2025, joining Waycross (May 10), Senoia (May 31), Tazewell (June 7), and Dixie (June 28). The series has battled a soggy spring and now a wet start to summer, prompting continued flexibility as the season progresses.
Should the forecast shift and the facility remain in race-ready condition, Magnolia Motor Speedway may host a Weekly Racing Series event on Saturday, July 12, weather permitting. Fans and teams are encouraged to follow Magnolia on social media for the latest updates on that potential event.
