Hunt The Front Super Dirt Series
Travis Scott named Director of Race Day Operations for 2024 season
MILTON, Fla. (Jan. 24) — The Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series has promoted series announcer Travis Scott to Director of Race Day Operations according to series director Joshua Joiner. The veteran Dirt Late Model announcer was tabbed as the voice of the Hunt the Front Series during the tour’s inaugural season.
Scott, a native of Greenville, S.C., now living in Aiken, S.C., will serve as the series race director moving forward. It’s a natural step for the 32-year-old Scott who has worked with the Southern All Stars, the Ultimate Southeast Series, FASTRAK, the Sport Compact Dirt Racing Association (SCDRA) and KELCAR Motorsports at the Gateway Dirt Nationals in St. Louis, Mo.
“Travis played an integral role for us behind the scenes in 2023 that went well beyond his official position as series announcer,” said Joiner. “We really leaned on him a lot for help with race day organization and operations, and it became clear fairly quickly that his talents go well beyond announcing races. As great of an announcer as he is, he’s even better at event operations and will be even more valuable to the series overseeing our race day staff and serving as race director.”
Hired when he was 15-years-old as an announcer for the Southern All Stars — a job he held from 2006-’11 — Scott was eventually hired by Ultimate Southeast Series. He often found himself stepping in for series race director Kelley Carlton during Ultimate, FASTRAK or SCDRA events when Carlton had events scheduled simultaneously. Along with directing events at Modoc (S.C.) Raceway and Screven Motor Speedway in Sylvania, Ga., Scott also had a stint in karting with Maxxis Tire-promoted events from 2014-’16.
Scott’s racing experience extends well beyond his time as an official.
“My dad raced 4-cylinders at Laurens County Speedway (in South Carolina),” said Scott. “I had my own homemade flags my grandma sewed for me and I flagged from when I was 5 until about 10. I raced karts in the mid 2000s (and) started going to (Late Model) races after we sold out.”
Scott’s first action as the series new race director is set for March 8-9 when the Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series crew heads to Clarksville (Tenn.) Speedway to officiate the 20th annual Tuckassee Toilet Bowl Classic, which is not a HTF points event. The Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series then kicks off its sophomore season March 15-16 at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, Ala., with the annual Bama Bash, featuring a $5,000-to-win main event on Friday and a $15,000-to-win main event on Saturday.
