Oil pan issue cuts short eventful 2025 season
LYNCHBURG, Tenn. (Sept. 13) — Jimmy Gray Motorsports closed out the 2025 racing season after competing in 12 events across Tennessee, Kentucky, Alabama and Georgia. The team originally planned an 18-race campaign, but a recurring oil pan issue forced an early end, leaving the season six events short.
Gray made 11 feature starts, collecting two victories, six top-five finishes and eight top-10s. The team recorded only two DNFs. Along the way, Gray competed in the Super Late Model, 604 and 602 divisions, racing at six different tracks, including a first-ever appearance at Sugar Creek Raceway in Blue Ridge, Georgia.
One of the season’s strongest showings came at Clarksville Speedway in a Super Late Model start with the Southern Thunder Super Dirt Series. After starting 20th, Gray drove to a 10th-place finish and was awarded the Knowles Race Parts Hard Charger honor.
Gray also debuted a new Velocita fire suit from Melissa Markewitz, a sharp addition made possible with the continued support of the team’s marketing partners.
The season’s biggest setback came when the oil pan was damaged for the second straight year. The failure cut short the schedule and prevented the team from reaching its goal of 18 races. At the J.R. Knight Memorial at Clarksville Speedway, the team also struggled with setup and missed the feature, a disappointment in what is expected to be the track’s final season.
“Overall, we had a decent year,” Gray said. “We won some races, earned a Hard Charger award, and had a lot of fun traveling to new tracks. But the oil pan issue really hurt us — it’s the only reason we didn’t complete our schedule. We’re going to park it for the season, pull the motor, fix the oil pan the right way and get a head start on 2026.”
Jimmy Gray Motorsports would like to thank its marketing partners for their continued support: Definite Wellness, Victory Fun Park, Powers Machine, Fanning Farms, and Dry Creek Sales and Storage. For updates and results, follow Jimmy Gray Motorsports on Facebook.
