July 20, 2025 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(Batavia, NY)...The Hovis Auto & Truck Supply RUSH Late Model Flynn's Tire/Gunter's Honey Touring Series will head north to The Dirt Track at Genesee Speedway this Tuesday night (July 22) for the only appearance of the season at the 1/3-mile Batavia, NY oval. The event will also be part of the 186th Genesee County Fair. Warmups will get underway at 6:30 p.m. followed by qualifying and racing.

Genesee is in its first year under James Gayton with former promoter Jim Johnson part of the staff; however, the 2025 season marks the 11th consecutive year that Genesee has been a City Chevrolet Weekly Series-sanctioned track. Genesee has completed six events thus far this season with Dave DuBois leading the way with three victories. Bill Holmes III, Paul Grigsby, and Jimmy Johnson have also been victorious. Grigsby leads the City Chevrolet Track Pack points at Genesee.

John Waters won the first ever Flynn’s Tire/Gunter’s Honey Tour race at Genesee in 2017, while Jason Genco swept both shows in 2018 including the last time the Tour was part of the Genesee County Fair. Jeremy Wonderling was victorious in 2019. No Tour event was held in 2020 due to COVID-19. Waters and Wonderling then added their second Genesee Tour wins in 2021. Chad Homan won his first career Touring Series event in May 2022, while Wonderling swept the two-day "Topless Nationals" for $6,000 later that year. Bryce Davis ended a near six-year winless drought with the Touring Series in 2023. Mother Nature claimed the Memorial Day weekend events in both 2024 and 2025.

“It looks like the weather is finally going to cooperate for our return to Genesee,” stated RUSH Director Vicki Emig. “It’s been a struggle this year and Mother Nature claimed the last two scheduled events at Genesee. It’s always exciting to be part of any fair race and will be great to return to the Genesee County Fair for the first time in seven years.”

Wonderling is fresh off a big Independence Day holiday weekend in West Virginia where he finished second to Tyler County Speedway standout Kyle Thomas on Thursday then followed it up winning the very first Tour race at Ohio Valley Speedway on Friday for his first victory of the season. Wonderling has jumped out to a 33-point advantage in his search for an unprecedented fifth title, which would be worth a personal best $20,000.

The 2021 Flynn’s Tire/Gunter’s Honey Touring Series Champion, Kyle Hardy, has rebounded from a slow start to the season and has climbed to second in points. Second year RUSH racer Ben Easler is coming off a career best weekend with finishes of fifth and fourth to jump into a tie for third in points with new 3C Graphix Rookie-of-the-Year points leader Zack Carley. Second year Tour racer, Austin Allen, is fifth just one-point from a tie in third. RoY candidate Demetrios Drellos is just one-point behind Allen in sixth. Another second year Tour racer, Daryl Charlier, is a close seventh as Jason Knowles, Bud Watson, and Mike Wonderling complete the top 10. While just two points separate third through sixth in points, second through eighth are separated by only 15!

Max Blair is the only repeat winner after six events this season as he swept the Stateline-Eriez weekend in May. Charlier won the Tri-City Raceway Park Memorial Day eve event. Mason Zeigler won the biggest race of his career in the $20,000 “Bill Emig Memorial” presented by Sunoco Race Fuels at Lernerville Speedway on June 21. Thomas and Wonderling won the most recent events in the Mountaineer State. Last Sunday’s event at Bradford was rained out when the cars were on the track for the feature and will be made up on a date to be announced.

$100 "Shock the Clock" Qualifying and $25 to-win heat races will be presented by FK Rod Ends. The Sunoco Dash will set the beginning rows of the feature lineup and will award the winner a $100 Sunoco fuel gift card. The "Fill'er up with Sunoco Bucks" program co-presented by Bazell Race Fuels will include an additional $400 of Sunoco fuel card giveaways; two $100 random draws for drivers in the top 15 in Tour points and another four $50 random draws for all other competitors.

The podium finishers will each receive a three-pack of Heritage Wine Cellars premier products. Precise Racing Products will award a $50 gift card for the "Pedal Down" Hard Charger that passes the most cars in the feature. Ontime Body & Graphic's "Spoiler Alert" will award a spoiler kit to the eighth place finisher. The first feature non-qualifier will receive a $50 certificate from Holley Performance brands each night. There will also be five BOGO Landrum Performance Springs certificates given away through drawings. Forty lucky fans each night will receive a bottle of Dusted Steak Seasoning.
