Troutman earns 100th career victory in DJ Troutman Memorial opener
To kick off the three-day event honoring his late father, Drake Troutman made the short trip to Bedford Speedway (Bedford, Pa.) on Thursday afternoon to pilot the No. 17 Crate Modified for the third annual DJ Troutman Tribute Race.
With preliminary results placing him on the third row for the opener, Troutman rocketed into the lead on the second circuit and dominated the 15-lapper to claim the $800 payday and his 19th win of the season. The triumph also marked his 100th victory of his young career.
Behind the wheel of the Jerry Foster-owned No. 5 Modified on Friday, Drake raced into the $4,000-to-win feature with a runner-up run in heat. Rolling to a consistent top-10 finish, Troutman posted an eighth-place outing in the 30-lap affair.
With Saturday’s finale washed out by Mother Nature, Troutman traveled to Hilltop Speedway (Millersburg, Ohio) to compete in the Super Late Model ranks for the track’s Weekend on the Hill event. Starting the $8,500-to-win A-Main in second via a heat race win, Drake set the pace early before being overtaken by eventual race-winner Todd Brennan. Nathon Loney, Greg Oakes, and Kyle Moore completed the top-five finishers.
