Season Championship Night & Kuchen Invitational - Race Results & Recap

Racing action returned to the Jamestown Speedway this past Saturday for Season Championship Night and the Kuchen Classic presented by the Grateful Plate ND and Emma's Kuchen LLC. It was a beautiful night for racing action and what a great race track. There were multiple battles that were 3 and 4 wide throughout the night and racing from top to bottom on a very smooth track. It was a great way to end the 2022 points season in Jamestown. Thank you to Emma Kuchen LCC for providing kuchens to our fans and drivers in appreciation for the 2022 season.

We had a total of 96 cars in the pits! Congratulations goes out to our winners and runner-ups on the 2022 Season Championship Night:

Bombers/Pure Stocks - 18 Cars:

  • Winner: Chris Rangeloff (1st Career Feature Win!), Runner-Up: Erik Busche
  • Hard Charger: Ryker Vetter +7 (18th to 11th)

A fast and hard fought race in your Bombers. Chris Rangeloff held off the hard chargers of Erik Busche, Asher Williams, Travis Edinger, Joe Jacobson, and Jayden Michaelsohn behind him. He had multiple drivers go to the top and bottom of him during the final 5 laps and they were three wide out of turn 4 for second behind Chris as he picked up his 1st career feature win! Erik Busche took home 2nd, Asher Williams in 3rd, Joe Jacobson in 4th, and Jayden Michaelsohn rounding out the top 5.

INEX Legends - 26 Cars:

  • Winner: Glenn Mitchell, Runner-Up: Donavin Wiest
Hard Charger: Cody Jawaski +10 (23rd to 13th)

This was an awesome race and battle throughout the field. For multiple laps, they were three wide from 4th on back in a great battle. Alex Kukowski was able to get by Sierra Davenport and Ryan Erdahl early to grab the lead as Donavin Wiest and Glenn Mitchell were moving their way to the front. Unfortunately, Alex Kukowski was involved in wreck in turns one and two with about 10 laps to go when two drivers got together in front of him. This ended his night and gave the lead to Donavin Wiest, who had Glenn Mitchell all over him for the lead. Glenn made his move with 4 laps to go in turns one and two and was able to drive under Donavin and around to the lead. He held off Donavin for the win with Ryan Erdahl in 3rd, Dayton Olheiser in 4th, and Austin Wiest in 5th.

Wissota Midwest Modifieds - 15 Cars:

  • Winner: Jaren Wibstad, Runner-Up: Zach Reinke
  • Hard Charger: Nate Reinke +5 (8th to 3rd)

This race went caution free until the final lap. Cole Neset was able to get around Matt Duchscherer early in the race and set the pace. However, both Jaren Wibstad and Zach Reinke were working the bottom of the track and going to the front. Jaren made the pass for the lead with about 12 laps to go and Zach was right on his rear bumper. Zach look high and low for a way around Jaren, but wounded up 2nd to take home the Championship with Jaren Wibstad winning the feature and finishing 2nd in points. Nate Reinke worked his way up to 3rd, Cole Neset in 4th, and Reise Stenberg in 5th.

Wissota Street Stocks - 16 Cars:

  • Winner: Geoff Hellman, Runner-Up: Billie Christ
    Hard Charger: Royce Jawaski +6 (14th to 8th) & Billie Christ +6 (8th to 2nd)

The Street Stocks put on a great show again for the second week in a row. They were high, low, and in the middle battling for the lead and throughout the top 10. Chris Ritter was able to jump out to an early lead until Dustin Erickson found the high side of the 1/4 mile and got a run to the lead early. It was then a great battle between Dustin Erickson, Chris Ritter, Billie Christ, Geoff Hellman, and Brian Hanson Jr. for the lead. Geoff Hellman used the bottom side of the Speedway to get around Dustin Erickson and went on to hold off Billie Christ to pick up his second win in Jamestown this season. Dustin Erickson was 3rd, Chris Ritter in 4th, and Kasey Ussatis rounded out the top 5.

IMCA Modifieds - 18 Cars:

  • Winner: Shawn Strand, Runner-Up: Kevin Oeder
Hard Charger: Shawn Strand +10 (11th to 1st)

What a great race in the IMCA Modifieds. Jeremy Forester and Chris Mack put on a show early up front as Forester was on the bottom and Mack on the high side as they were side by side for the first 5 laps. Between your leaders, they were 3 and 4 wide battling from 5th back to 12th as they were all over the Speedway. A caution came out with about 8 laps completed of the 25 lap feature and that is when Shawn Strand made his move. Shawn restarted 7th and went the very top of the track and was in 2nd battling the lead when they crossed the start finish line for the next lap. Shawn made the pass on Forester for the lead and then, it was a great three car battle for second to close out the race as Strand was gone. Kevin Oeder was on the bottom of the track with John Nord on the high side and Jordan Sours in the middle. Shawn Strand won his 2nd race of the year on Saturday nght with Kevin Oeder holding on for 2nd, John Nord in 3rd, Jordan Sours in 4th, and John Corell in 5th.
