"Central Coast Clash" Kicks off Busy Month of June
Santa Maria Speedway will be kicking off a busy month of June starting this Saturday, June 7th with WMR/BCRA Midgets, IMCA Modifieds, IMCA SportMods and Hobby Stocks. It will be the first trip to the Central Coast for the WMR/BCRA Super Series, while the other divisions have had plenty of action already on the third-mile clay oval.
The WMR/BCRA Midget Super Series will headline the night for their inaugural “Central Coast Clash.” The drivers will check in with a minimum of $2,000 to win on the line. Stockton’s Caden Sarale won the USAC Western States Midgets feature event at Santa Maria Speedway a few weeks ago. He heads into this weekend as the BCRA Points leader and is looking to take home another winning payday.
IMCA Modifieds have had two appearances in 2025. Cody Burke won the season opener and was in contention for the win when the IMCA Central California Clash was in town. A parts failure in the closing laps negated a 2-for-2 start for the Salinas native and allowed Pismo Beach’s Cole Szlauko to overtake the points lead by a one point margin.
Danny Wagner has been a strong contender and leads the current points’ battle in IMCA Northern SportMods. After winning opening night, he followed it up with a strong second place finish two weeks ago. He has an eleven point advantage over Willy Oathout.
Dakota Brown leads the points battle for Hobby Stocks with a pair of podiums in the division's two events thus far. Skyler Chairez topped the podium on opening night and goes into the event a slim one point behind Brown.
Front gates will open at 4:00 PM on Saturday with racing at 6:00 PM. Adult tickets are $20, Senior/Military $18, Ages 11-17 $10 and youth 10 and under free. Parking is free, beer and concession stand booths will be open to serve you. Pre-sale tickets and the season’s schedule is available on www.SantaMariaSpeedway.net
