SCHLOTFELDT TOPS IN FRONT OF PACKED HOUSE AT SKAGIT SPEEDWAY

It was a packed house on Skagit Speedway as the crowd crammed in to watch racing and the Les Schwab Fireworks Show under sunny skies. Jesse Schlotfeldt came out on top of the 360 Sprint Car main event before the night sky erupted with one of the best fireworks displays seen in years.

The night looked to belong to Trey Starks, who came in having finished no worse than second place in five 360 nights at Skagit Speedway on the year. Starks led 29 ¾ of the race, but it was that ¾ number that jumped up and bit him in the end. Having taken the white flag, Starks looked to cruise to the win - that was until contact with a lapped car sent Starks spinning before he could cross the flag stand one more time, denying him the win on the night. Jesse Schlotfeldt had been running second and desperately trying to find a way to close on Trey was handed the top spot and took full advantage of his boon by leading the final two laps around to score the victory. Levi Hillier came in second while Jason Solwold was third. After swapping an engine after hot laps, reigning ASCS National Champion Seth Bergman drove from 14th to 4th. Solwold set quick time on the night. Hillier, Starks and Luke Didiuk won the heat races.

An eventful main event in the Modifieds ended with Cole Logan grabbing his second win of the year. After driving past Austin Smith for the top spot on lap four, Logan kept defending track champion Jeff Westergard and Rory Smith at bay for the following 20 laps to take the victory despite many restarts. Westergard and Smith were the heat race winners.

We now have four winners in four races for the Hornets on the season, as former track champion Howard Vos drove to victory lane for the first time on the year. Vos passed Brian Michelson on lap 13 for the lead and eventual victory. Tazio Andreassen scored a career best runner up finish with Wyatt Covert taking third. Vos was quick time while heat race wins went to Braxton Houseman and Greg Hibma.

56 Cars raced at Skagit Speedway on Saturday night with the final race ending at 10:44pm.
