Robert Ballou Gets It Done In Traffic To Take The Checkers At LPS

This would be an amazing show at LPS as 58 cars entered the gates for Usac Indiana Sprint Week. Brady Bacon set the fast time of 12.471 with the top 17 all in the 12 second bracket. The LPS clay was juiced up with the earlier rains and this is the 1st time we can even thank Mother Nature for rain this year. With this many cars it would be 5 heats taking the top 4 then a C main, and the last chance Semi taking the top 4. The field was loaded top to bottom and these heats were like mini features with the talent we would get to enjoy. Heat race 1 Chase Stockon would take the win over Logan Seavey, Brady Bacon and Zack Pretorius. Luckily Kale Drake was okay after a scary wreck in the backstretch wall off of Turn 2. Heat race 2 Justin Grant took the win over Kyle Cummins, Shane Cottle and Cale Coons. Hopefully Todd Hobson is okay after a scary flip in turn 2 during the start of this heat. Heat race 3 I call was the best one for me and LPS faithful as Seth Parker took the lead and went on for a big win over Charles Davis, Joey Amantea and Hunter Maddox. Great job to Seth and the 38P crew for the big win and we always enjoy watching them at LPS every week so it was fun to see the LPS faithful fans on their feet during those checkers. Heat 4 KT Jr. took the win over Briggs Danner, Carson Garrett and Logan Calderwood. The final heat went to Robert Ballou over Jake Swanson, Gunner Setser and Kyle Shipley. Shipley ran a great race from the last spot to 4th to transfer and barely beat out LPS champ Tye Mihocko for the last spot.

This setup the C main and the Semi for the last chances into the Big Dance ISW A main. The C main again looked like an A feature and Ricky Lewis won it over Geoff Ensign, Ivan Glotzbach and Kale Drake moving to the semi. Mitchell Moles won the Semi over LPS champ Tye Mihocko, Chelby Hinton and Hayden Reinbold. This setup the A main with Kale Drake and CJ Leary taking provisionals which once again shows the talent in and Indiana Sprint Week field.

The front row of the A would be Justin Grant and Logan Seavey. 30 laps and it was intense with the fastest way around being the bottom and 1 lane up. Justin Grant would take the early lead but Kyle Cummins spun in turn 4 ending his night with a broken front axle. On the restart this would be a chance for JG to catch up on some points and he would lead the first half of the race but then they got into lapped traffic. This was when the 12 of Ballou would pounce and he would take the lead from JG on lap 16 and would start to build a lead from the rest. The 12 was really good on the bottom would keep growing the lead. Kudos to Brady Bacon, Seth Parker, Tye Mihocko and some others for trying the cushion to see if they could get it going but the bottom moisture was wicked fast around the LPS clay. Robert Ballou would hold on for the big win his 1st Usac win in a long time and the drought was over from last years win at Eldora. Following him at the line it was Briggs Danner, Kevin Thomas Jr., Brady Bacon, Logan Seavey, Chase Stockon, Jake Swanson, Mitchell Moles, Gunner Setser and Hayden Reinbold. Great run for Seth Parker in 11th and Tye Mihocko in 13th. Thanks to all the teams and fans who made for a great night #1 Points Night of ISW at LPS. Good luck to all the teams the rest of the week. Join us again August 9th at LPS for the Super Stock Special in the Jon Dome Memorial Race.
