Lancaster Motor Speedway Takes First Leg of Cherokee Speedway’s Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series June Doubleheader
Huge Palmetto State Weekend Features Lancaster’s $12,000-to-win Buddy Crook Memorial on June 21 & Cherokee’s $20,000-to-win Rock Gault Memorial on June 22
MILTON, Fla. (May 22) — A big weekend in the Palmetto State just got even bigger. In a move jointly arranged and agreed upon by both racetracks and the series, the opening night of the planned June 21-22 Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series doubleheader weekend at Cherokee Speedway in Gaffney, S.C., has been moved to Lancaster Motor Speedway in Lancaster, S.C.
Lancaster’s Buddy Crook Memorial will pay $12,000 to the winner and at least $1,000 to every main event starter on Friday, June 21. Originally planned for May 4 before being rained out, Lancaster’s new HTF Series date replaces the $5,000-to-win show originally planned to open Cherokee’s doubleheader weekend.
Cherokee will now host the Rock Gault Memorial as a single-day event on Saturday, June 22 paying $20,000 to the winner and at least $1,000 to every main event starter.
The two huge events, which are currently slated to be the eighth and ninth rounds of this year’s HTF tour, will both be first-time tracks for the series as the second-year tour makes its first-ever trip to South Carolina. The series has seen five different winners in its first five events this season with Brandon Overton of Evans, Ga., currently leading Chris Ferguson of Mount Holly, N.C., and Sam Seawright of Fort Payne, Ala., in the chase for the tour’s $50,000 championship.
