Inside Line Promotions – LUBBOCK, Texas (May 18, 2015) – Tony Bruce Jr. garnered his fourth top five of the season on Friday at Lubbock Speedway during an ASCS Red River Region event.

“We went down and spent all week with Billy Briley of Briley Trucking and Scott Brown of Lubbock Wrecker Service,” he said. “It was a good time. We were able to hang out with people who support us and have a solid run.”

Bruce Jr. and his One 8 Motorsports team kicked off the night by winning a heat race from the pole position. It marked the team’s sixth heat race victory of the season.

“I got a good start and checked out, which put us in the redraw,” he said. “The only bad thing was we redrew the eight.”

Bruce Jr. pulled the highest number during the feature redraw to line up on the outside of the fourth row for the main event.

“We went from eighth to third early in the race,” he said. “I was into third coming out of turn two (on the opening lap). We had an unbelievable start. Actually the first one got called back. I figured everyone would jump to the top and take the line away on the second attempt, but nobody did. The faster groove was up top, but you could move around and use any part of the race track that you wanted. We rode around on the top side most of the race.”

Bruce Jr. maintained third place for two thirds of the feature before he ended fourth, which was his fifth top-10 finish in the last six races.

Saturday’s ASCS Red River Region event at Lawton Speedway in Lawton, Okla., was rained out.

Bruce Jr. is scheduled to make his career debut at Timberline Speedway in Corley, Texas, this Friday and return to Devil’s Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, Texas, on Saturday with the ASCS Red River Region.

“I’ve never been to Timberline so that will be exciting,” he said. “I always look forward to going to Devil’s Bowl. We’ve always had a fast race car there and I’d expect that to be the same this weekend.”
