Walter “Peg” Combs Memorial up next for BoB Series & Ultimate Heart of America
ISOM, KENTUCKY (June 15, 2025)—The Battle of the Bluegrass DIRTcar Series presented by Slicker Graphics will get back to action for the second race of the season on Friday Night June 20th at Mountain Motor Speedway in Isom, Ky. for the Annual Walter “Peg” Combs Memorial paying $5,000-to-win and $500-to-start the 30-lap feature. The event will be co-sanctioned with the Ultimate Heart of America Super Late Model Series.
On Friday June 20, it will be exactly 5,766 days since the Battle of the Bluegrass DIRTcar Series last raced on September 6, 2009 at Tazewell (Tenn.) Speedway with Billy Ogle Jr. taking home the victory. The reboot of the series comes after one rainout last Saturday at Mudlick Valley Raceway which was scheduled to be the season opener.
This will mark the first time since August 29, 2008 since the Battle of the Bluegrass DIRTcar series has visited Mountain Motor Speedway. In the three previous series visits, Jackie Boggs (8/29/2008), Eddie Carrier Jr. (9/2/2005) & Mike Marlar (7/4/2003) have visited victory lane. Jackie Boggs, who led all 30 laps for the $3,000 payday claimed the last series visit in 2008 besting a 27-car field winning over Raymond Nichols, Larry Gray, Shon Flanary, Rick Aukland, Eric Wells, D.J. Wells, Chris Combs, Victor Lee & Tim Tungate rounding out the top-10.
After three events, Blake Creech of Richmond, Ind. hold a tight seven-point lead in Ultimate Heart of America Super Late Model Series points over Larry Martin Jr., Derek Fisher, Brad Rickels, Kenny Howell, Rusty Schlenk, Tristan Chamberlain, Daniel Shelton, Todd Brennan & Cody Mahoney rounding out the current top-10 in series points. This will be the second-ever appearance for the Ultimate Heart of America Super Late Model Series to Mountain Motor Speedway as Tyler Carpenter won the last series event back on October 22, 2021.
Winners this season on the Ultimate Heart of America Super Late Model Series include Rusty Schlenk at Montpelier (Ind.) Speedway, Derek Fisher & Tristan Chamberlain at 191 Speedway and most recently Mike Marlar at Mudlick Valley Raceway.
On June 20, the pits open at 1:00 pm, the grandstands open at 4:00 pm with the drivers meeting set for 7:00 pm and hot laps directly after. Adult grandstand admission is $25 while adult pit passes are $45. The Sport Mods, Crown Vics, Hobby Stocks & 4-Cylinders will all be in action. Former winners of the Walter ‘Peg” Combs Memorial include Jonathan Davenport, Josh Putnam & Tyler Arrington.
The tire rule for this event will be Fronts & Left Rear: Hoosier NLMT 2 & NLMT 3, Right Rear: Hoosier NLMT 3 & 4. The entry fee will be $110. Tow money is $75. The highest finishing Crate Late Model will receive $100 and the second-highest Crate in the feature will receive $50. This will also be a UMP DIRTcar points race for any competitors wishing to pick up points.
