Christian claims pair of top-10 finishes in Heart O’ Texas run

Gary Christian climbed back aboard his Pannell Chipping No.58x Modified over the weekend for a trio of events at the quarter-mile Heart O’ Texas Speedway. He earned multiple solid results across two different series at the clay oval in Elm Mott, Texas.

On Thursday, Christian was part of a 51-car field competing for the $2,000 winner’s share in the USRA American Racer Modified Series (ARMS) season opener. He took the fifth spot in his heat race and finished third in his B-Main to transfer into the 30-lap feature. From his 23rd-place starting spot, Christian rocketed ahead 17 positions to finish sixth.

The next two nights, the 2025 Summit USMTS National Championship slate began at the track with the 10th annual Texas Winter Nationals.

On Friday, 48 USMTS Modified teams were in the pit area seeking the $5,000 winner’s share. Christian took fourth in his heat and second in his B-Main, then started 15th in the 40-lap feature. He came home 11th.

Forty-three Modifieds were on hand for Saturday's finale with another $5,000 on the line. Christian was again unable to transfer through his heat and struggled in his consolation race. However, he used an emergency provisional to start 25th in the main event. He mounted an impressive charge for the second time in three nights and climbed 17 positions to finish eighth.

After one weekend of USMTS competition in 2025, Christian occupies the ninth spot in the point standings.
