Lanfri, Droivold and Cooper Earn Wins at Marysville Raceway

MARYSVILLE, Calif., June 14, 2025…Nearly 60 race cars lined the pit area of Marysville Raceway on Saturday night, June 14th. The Joe Hunt Magnetos Wingless Tour was in town for one night only. The series brought a total of 24 cars to the action track of the west. The race was action packed all night. After 25 laps of non-wing sprint car racing the winner was Brent Steck. Unfortunately, after the races, Steck’s car did not meet the weight requirements for the series rule book. Steck was removed as the winner. In stepped second place finishing Eathon Lanfri, who was awarded the win. Following him was Boy Moniz and Anthony Bruno. Koa Crane finished fourth and Joshua Wooten rounded out the top five.

Carl Droivold earned a hard-fought win during the 20-lap Crate Sprint main event. He was able to pass David Derr Jr. late in the race to secure the win. Derr Jr. drove an absolute masterpiece of a main event. He went on to finish second and should be proud of his effort. It was the first win of the season for Droivold. Mike Ballantine finished in the third spot. Mike was competitive all night long. His brother Jason had a tough tumble coming off turn two as he battled with Derr Jr. for the lead. It took a while for Ballantine to emerge from the damaged car. He unfortunately went from a chance of winning to finishing 14th. Derek Droivold finished fourth. The Beast, Jacob Johnson, came home in the fifth spot. A total of 16 cars entered the nights race.

The best of the best when it comes to Hobby Stock racing were in attendance Saturday night. After 20 laps of main event racing, Yuba City’s Brian Cooper won the race. He was able to beat Howard Law, finished second, and Kyle Cheney finished third. Both Law and Cheney are the former champions of this division. Former Silver Dollar Speedway track champion Zach Lindgren finished fourth. Kevin Thomas rounded out the top five. Just outside of the top five were more heavy hitters led by Jacob Bright, Mario Davis, Jason Clayton, Ryan Smith and Toby Merrifield. Now, that’s a solid top ten!

Hobby stock heat races were won by Cheney and Bright.

Crate Sprint heat races were won by Carl Droivold and Mike Ballantine.

Koa Crane grabbed the first Hunt Magnetos Wingless heat win. Josh Young secured the win in heat race two. Shannon Newton won the third heat race. Jake Morgan was the fastest in group qualifying. He turned a lap time of 14.258.

Next up on the slate is a June 28th point race featuring 360 Sprints, Crate Sprints, and Dwarf Cars.
