Jedrzejek bounces back to win at Limaland on Firecracker Friday
As the nation celebrated the 249th birthday of the United States of America with cookouts and fireworks, the fans and racers at Limaland Motorsports Park celebrated with fireworks on the racetrack.
Firecracker Friday presented by T&D Interiors in Memory of Don Dunbar saw Kasey Jedrzejek win the GLSS Ohio CAT Sprint Car feature event in the Ed Neumeister owned No. 11N. The Bath Masters DIRTcar UMP Modified A Main was won in a duel to the finish by No. 65 Todd Sherman. Forest, Ohio’s Jordan Conover made his return to Limaland victory Lane for the first time since 2021 in Lock Sixteen Thunderstock action.
Kicking off feature action were the Bath Masters DIRTcar UMP Modifieds in their 20 lap A Main. Chaos was the theme in the Modified feature as The caution flag waved no less than 10 times, including an opening lap red flag that saw No. 22C Chad Coleman flip wildly in turns 3 and 4. Coleman would walk away under his own power but his car would be done for the night. As the field got underway, caution would wave again after lap 1 for debris, then the leader David Stremme would be docked 2 spots for hitting the cone on the restart. Stremme would battle back to second, but would find his night ending after contact with No. 34 Shane O’Connor sent Stremme spinning and bringing out his 2nd caution on lap 7. O’Connor would find himself battling with No. 65 Todd Sherman in the closing laps with Sherman passing for the lead on lap 13 and battling back and forth with O’Connor all the way to the finish. Sherman would pick up his first Bath Masters UMP Modified win of the 2025 season over O’Connor, No. 16 Jeff Koz finished third, No. 9C Troy Cattarene finished fourth and No. 14 Dalton Lane completed the top five.
Next up were the Great Lakes Super Sprints Ohio CAT Sprint Cars in their 25 lap feature. No. 12 Corbin Gurley and No. 11N Kasey Jedrzejek would lead the field to the green flag with Jedrzejek grabbing the early lead. The yellow flag would wave on lap 5 and 6, slowing the pace just as the leader approached lapped traffic. Jedrzejek would stretch his lead over the next five laps until reaching the start of lapped traffic, while No. 66 “The Entertainer” Chase Dunham began to close on the leader while running above the cushion in turns 3 and 4. Dunham was within two car lengths on lap 16 and made his move on lap 19 out of turn 4 on the high side of the track, but caught the frontstretch wall and knocked the right front wheel off the No. 66, ending his night. Jedrzejek would sail to victory after tearing up the previous night at Waynesfield, with Gurley battling back to second after falling back early in the race. No 85 Dustin Daggett would finish third, No. 17 Jared Horstman fourth, and No. 71H Max Stambaugh finishing fifth.
The Lock Sixteen Thunderstocks completed the racing action with No. 82 Chris Douglas and No. 26 Justin Long leading the field to start the fifteen lap A Main. Douglas would grab the point early, but No. 7C Jordan Conover charged from his fifth place starting position to take the lead on lap 2. No. 22T Tony Anderson would battle to second on lap 7, and try to close on Conover, but without success. Leesburg Indiana’s Zach Rush used the bottom of the racetrack to battle to third on lap nine and would finish there. Conover would pull away to victory over Anderson, Rush, No. 17H Devon Helmig, and Douglas.
