This Saturday, June 21st, engines will roar a little louder, the dirt will fly a little higher, and hearts will beat a little faster at Thunder Mountain Speedway. But it won’t just be another night of racing—it will be a night of remembrance, respect, and racing in honor of a man whose name still echoes through the hills: Rod Carter Jr.
Rod Carter Jr. was more than a racer. He was a fierce competitor, a loyal friend, a family man, and a true ambassador of dirt track racing. From the first time he strapped into a race car, Rod brought passion, grit, and heart to every lap. Whether he was battling for the win or lending a hand in the pits, Rod earned the respect of fans and fellow racers alike.
Though he’s no longer with us, his legacy lives on. His trademark determination, sportsmanship, and unshakeable love for the sport still inspire the next generation of racers.
This Saturday, we gather not in silence, but in celebration. The 2nd Annual Rod Carter Jr. Memorial Race will feature the Ultimate Pro Late Model Series, where drivers will compete for $5,121 to win—a number chosen to honor the man himself. With the sun setting over the mountain fans will fill the stands, sharing stories, cheers, and a few tears for Rod.
Every turn of the track will carry his memory. Every roar of the engine will be a tribute. And every checkered flag waved will be in honor of a man who gave his all to the sport he loved.

Gates open at 2:00PM so come out early and bring your chairs. The Bourbon Bandits will be the TMS Stage starting at 4:30PM. Driver's autograph session at 5:00PM at the stage.
Pit Meeting will be at 6:00PM with hot laps and racing to follow.
