Snyder leads Indoor kart league after 2 races

The 2011 Extreme Indoor Kart Series kicked off last weekend with some of the finest short track racers in the state. This year the roster includes:

Modified drivers-Kyle Feeney, Tom Hernly, Jeff Vrsek and Larry Wallace.
Super Late Model driver-Chris Hettinger
Pavement Winged Sprint Car driver-2011 AVSS Champion Kevin Feeney and Derek Snyder
USAC Midget Driver-Phil Rutledge
Mini Sprint Driver-Cody Hoover
Mark Karazim

Round One of the series ran last Sunday, with Kyle Feeney winning fast time. Derek Snyder won the feature, followed by Tom Hernly, Jeff Vrsek, Phil Rutledge and Chris Hettinger.

Round Two ran today, and it was nothing short of exciting. Chris Hettinger won fast time during qualifying and also set a new track record with a 27.232. When the drivers took the green for the feature things got very wild from the get go. Mark Karazim took off from the pole but quickly saw his lead dissapear when Hernly, Snyder and Kyle Feeney come flying by him. As Karazim tried to hold on to his position, Vrsek and Karazim got tangled in turn 5 sending Karazim hard into the wall. According to the fans, it was one of the harder hits they had seen on the tight ¼ mile road course when his car was sent airborne after drilling the fence.

From there Snyder began to work his way through the field, with Kyle Feeney, Hettinger, Hernly and Vrsek following closely behind. As the rest of the group was battling hard for position, Snyder extended his lead, while the next 5 positions were different through every corner. Hettinger and Kyle Feeney were laying the lumber to each other, with Hettinger finally winning the battle by securing 2nd position. Vrsek took the opportunity to follow Hettinger into 3rd position. After some intense passing back and forth between Vrsek and Kyle Feeney, Vrsek finally sealed the deal by using Kyle’s dad, Kevin Feeney as a pick to put an end to the dog fighting.

In the end, Snyder made it two straight wins, followed by Hettinger, Vrsek, Kyle Feeney, and Tom Hernly.
