Derek Snyder
2 solid top 10 finishes at Dixie and Owosso
July 4th weekend Snyder was offered the opportunity to drive the Wayne Stickney owned 99 car. Friday night Snyder traveled to Dixie Motor Speedway in Birch Run, MI. The car was decent in hot laps, and Derek shook off the rust of not being in a Sprint car in a year by qualifying 6th quick. Snyder started on the outside of the second row in the heat race, and made quick work of the front row, taking the lead on the first lap and never looking back, winning the heat race. Snyder started on the inside of the second row of the feature and was able to take 2nd place in the beginning and hold it for a while. With 3 laps to go, Snyder was battling with 4th place car Joe Swanson and they tangled causing Snyder to spin. Despite the spin, Snyder was able to salvage a 6th place finish.
Saturday brought the team to Owosso Speedway after a decent finish at Dixie. The car was good in hot laps but in Qualifying, Snyder was only able to manage a 12th place lap. Derek finished 3rd in his heat, and changes were made to get the car faster. In the feature, Snyder started in 12th and was able to avoid a 4 car wreck on the first lap. Snyder worked his way up to a 6th place finish and was close to breaking the top 5. We would like to thank Wayne Stickney and Todd for all their help in getting us back on the track, and hope to be back out very soon!
