Part Two of a 2-Part Bad Luck Evening

Later that same evening in the Junior Sprint feature Austin gained the lead on the third lap (starting 5th) and while exiting turn two the car settled down on it’s left rear hub/axle as the wheel/tire rolled by his crippled race-mount. Needless to say the driver was extremely displeased with the efforts of his crew-chief (Dad) resulting in a failure to properly torque the left rear wheel-nuts following a sprocket change. I never thought a Father could be fired by his 12 year old Son but I believe Austin was just about ready to hand me my walking papers. Lesson learned “think Dad”.
