Drake Troutman Claims Career Payday at Mississippi Thunder Speedway
Pennsylvania Driver Banks $100,025 Modified World Championship
HYNDMAN, Pa. (06/02/25) – Drake Troutman achieved a significant career milestone over the weekend, claiming a six-figure payday in the inaugural Modified World Championship at Mississippi Thunder Speedway.
The Pennsylvania native drove the Jerry’s Siding Roofing & Doors / CertainTeed / All About Doors No. 5 Elite Chassis Modified to a $100,025 victory, outdueling reigning USMTS champion Jim Chisholm in Saturday’s 80-lap main event at the third-mile oval.
“Man, I don’t even know what to say,” Troutman said. “I sure as hell never thought I would be in contention to win 100 grand, that’s for sure. I can’t thank Jerry [Foster], little Jerry, and Todd enough for letting me come out here and wheel this thing. I am speechless.”
The inaugural event, held Wednesday through Saturday at the Wisconsin oval, began in earnest for Troutman during Thursday’s qualifying night. With more than 90 Modifieds in the pit area for preliminary competition, Troutman set the tone early—posting the fastest time in his 18-car time trial group before backing it up with a convincing heat race win. He carried that momentum into the 30-lap preliminary feature, starting from the second row and charging to the lead on lap 23 to score the victory and lock into Saturday’s main event.
Lining up on the front row for Saturday’s finale, Troutman engaged in a thrilling early-race battle for the lead before taking control on lap 36. He held off a hard-charging Jim Chisholm—the defending USMTS champion—to notch his fourth win of the season and claim the event’s $100,025 top prize.
