Mullens wins in Late Model at Salt City Racing, Modified at Lucas Oil Speedway

Tanner Mullens stretched his win streak to five over the weekend as he turned in first-place results in two classes across two states.

Originally, Mullens had planned to race with the USRA Heartland Modified Tour (HMT) at Lebanon, Missouri’s Midway Speedway on Friday. However, when the race was rained out, he pulled out his No. 02 Late Model and instead took part in an 11-car United Rebel Late Model Series (URLMS) field at Salt City Racing in Hutchinson, Kansas.

Mullens finished second in both his heat race and dash on the half-mile oval at the Kansas State Fairgrounds, then started second in the 20-lap, $1,000-to-win feature. He wired the field and took the checkered flag ahead of Kip Hughes, Jake Nightingale, Dan Smith and Delbert Smith.

Mullens also swept both URLMS events on the first weekend in May, and began his winning streak with an HMT win at Salt City Racing in late April.

On Saturday, Mullens continued his dominant ways when he traveled to Lucas Oil Speedway to compete with his No. 02 Modified in a 39-car program.

Mullens set overall quick time at the 3/8-mile oval in Wheatland, Missouri, and won his heat from the pole. He also started from the top spot in the 30-lap main event. He led every circuit of the $2,000-to-win race, crossing the start-finish line 3.873 seconds ahead of Tyler Davis. Wyatt Gaggero rounded out the podium, with Trevor Hughes and Tad Davis finishing fourth and fifth, respectively.

With his weekend triumphs, Mullens has now claimed six feature victories in 2025.
