McKinney to Pilot Team’s Late Model; Adam Turns Attention to Modified Action

CHERRY, Ill. (04/23/25) – Adam Family Motorsports driver, Daniel Adam will be teaming up and switching roles with Modified standout, Mike McKinney for several events in 2025.

The partnership comes in an effort to give Daniel Adam more experience in slick conditions with the smaller tire of a Modified, while allowing Mike McKinney to continue his learning experience in Super Late Model action.

“Daniel is a great young man with a lot of potential to make a career out of Dirt Late Model Racing. I feel moving him to a Modified and racing in the Midwest with some of the best Modified racers in the business will allow him to fine tune his race craft and learn more car control. This will help him transition over time back into a Dirt Late Model and be more competitive on the bigger stages, ” said Adam Family Motorsports owner, Joe Adam. “While moving Daniel into a Modified might be considered a step down by some, the reality is that Modifieds are one of the hardest divisions to compete in regionally week in and week out.”

For Joe Adam, bringing McKinney into the fold is a no-brainer decision.

“Bringing Mike (McKinney) in as our next Super Late Model driver was an easy choice. I’ve known Mike since he was a teenager, and he’s a great young man out of the car and one hell of a wheel man inside the car. We look forward to what this year has to bring, and hopefully end up in Victory Lane several times with the MARS tour and the DIRTcar UMP Summernationals.”

During his 12 year career in a Modified, McKinney has collected over 100 wins including Modified victories in the Prairie Dirt Classic and the $10,000 Casey’s Modified Nationals. He also claimed the 2024 DIRTcar Summit Modified Nationals Championship.

“I’m beyond grateful for this opportunity with Adam Family Motorsports,” Mike McKinney shared. “I watched Mr. (Joe) Adam race Modifieds at La Salle Speedway when I was a teenager, so this is definitely a full circle moment to now drive for him and his team. I’m excited to have another shot to go Super Late Model Racing. I’ve got a lot to learn, but I’m ready for the challenge!”

Daniel Adam will pilot a Longhorn Modified with a Mullins Race Engine at events throughout the Midwest, while McCkinney will utilize a Longhorn Late Model with a Cornett Racing Engine, focusing on events with the Midwest Auto Racing Series (MARS) and DIRTcar Summernationals, while also competing in a bigger shows throughout the region.
