Driver Information

There's a saying that goes "When one door closes, another door opens." But for racer, Alex Reling, it's more like "As one old chapter closes, another new chapter opens".
That "old" chapter began back in late summer of 2014 when Alex was 8 years old and he attend a "promo" day at the North Carolina Quarter Midget Association (NCQMA) to "test" drive a quarter midget. The day was a huge success and Alex did so well, that the following weekend his parents went out a bought a complete "race ready" quarter midget for him to be able to start racing.
Alex practiced every chance he could at the NCQMA track before his very first
"Red Rookie" race in October 2014. Alex ended up winning that very first race in a quarter midget and would go on to win 2 other races before the end of the 2014 season.
2015 would be a full race season in quarter midgets for Alex competing in the
"Red Rookie" class. Alex's first year of racing earned him, "2015 Rookie of the Year" award. This first year had its share of heartache and sadness too because Alex lost his "number one cheerleader"; his beloved Grandma.
In 2016, Alex was 9 years old and in the "Blue Rookie" division. Alex practiced every chance he could, learning his "lines" and how to "hit his marks", entering and exiting the turns and building his confidence so he could "make the pass" on other quarter midgets he raced with.
With 4 races to go in the 2016 season, Alex moved into the "Senior Honda" division.
By the first race of the 2017 quarter midget season, Alex was now 10 years old, 5 feet tall and weighed 100 pounds and moved into the competitive division of "Heavy Honda". Alex also had a second quarter midget to compete in the "Heavy 160" division.
2017 was the first year of traveling to other quarter midget tracks for Alex to race at.
Traveling to the "National" and "Regional" quarter midget tracks gave Alex the opportunity to race against other quarter midget "drivers" and this is when Alex really began to “shine" because he learned how to “race others how youwould want to be raced"; "clean and with respect." This is when Alex really started to "make a name for himself" because of how he raced his competitors.
The 2018 quarter midget season concentrated on racing just at Alex's "home" track of NCQMA racing in the "Summer Series" and the regular "Season Series".
And by 2019, Alex now 13 years old, 57" and weighing 130 pounds; this would be his last year racing quarter midgets already. 2019 Alex raced all the
"National" races and all the "Regional races.
After only 5 short years racing quarter midgets, Alex learned how to race clean and with respect, made a name for him picking up many wins and top 3's. But, the biggest win of all for Alex would have to be all the racing friends and memories he will have forever.
2020 will always be known for the Coronavirus Pandemic. For Alex Reling, 2020 was a "year to regroup" with his parents and figure out what they could afford for him to be able to race in 2021 and for him to try other racing series out there and really see what he enjoyed racing.
Alex has been fortunate to 'test drive' a Legends Car, Go-Pro Go-Karts, Dirt Sprint cars at MillBridge and a Ford Focus Midget.
So for 2021, Alex is looking forward to continuing his racing "career" in a series that will showcase his racing abilities, strengths and talents. It only takes one person to give Alex that "chance" to race in a series that is competitive just like he is. That one opportunity to race again. If you give Alex the opportunity to race a Legends car, you will not be disappointed.
