LaRose has eventful Shamrock Shootout

Zander LaRose returned to the cockpit of his RS12 Motorsports Junior Sprint over the weekend for two days of racing in the Midwest Winter Nationals Shamrock Shootout at the Southern Illinois Center. He competed in nearly 20-car fields each day at the 1/6-mile indoor track in DuQuoin.

On Friday, LaRose qualified sixth in his High Caliber Graphics No. 1Z ride and took second in his heat. He rolled off sixth in the 20-lap Junior Sprints A-Main and fought brake issues, leading to a tight condition. He spun on lap 13 and was forced to the rear, but salvaged a 12th-place finish despite difficulty steering.

The next day, LaRose qualified fourth in his High Caliber Graphics No. 1Z ride, then took a tumble in his heat race. Z-Man was unhurt, however, he finished seventh and was forced to start near the tail of the 20-lap feature. From his 14th-place starting position, he charged forward and came home seventh.

Saturday action also included non-wing competition for the Junior Sprints. LaRose grabbed second in his heat and was slated to start fifth in the 15-lap main event. However, a power outage forced the cancellation of the feature.
