Pozsgai Nabs First Sprint Car Win!
Lincoln, IL - In only his fourth time behind the wheel of a fire breathing full size wing sprint car, Max Pozsgai was able to find victory lane on Sunday night June 23 at the Lincoln Speedway in Lincoln, IL.
A veteran of the 600cc outlaw micro sprints, Pozsgai had previously run 3 winged sprint car races. One being a 360 Sprint Invader race in Burlington, IA in 2010, along with a couple of runs with the MOWA 410 sprint car series in 2012 at Lincoln, IL and Danville, IL.
Driving the #84 Wagoner Motorsports Eagle Chassis/Automotive Machine 305 Sprint Car, Max finished second in the heat race starting him outside the front row of the feature. An early race restart allowed Max to find the bottom groove to move past early leader Paul Neinheiser of Chapin, IL. The move proved to be a winning one, and Pozsgai led the final 16 laps unchallenged. "It has always been a dream of mine to race a sprint car let alone win a race. I'm very humbled to have the chance to drive one and even more to win. It was definitely a night I'll never forget!" said Max.
Max wants to thank the entire Wagoner Motorsports team for the opportunity to drive as well as all the sponsors. "Hopefully with our success it will open up opportunities down the road in the sprint cars," added Max.
