Howard To Make Midget Debut At Valley Speedway

GRAIN VALLEY, Mo. – Though just 12 young years of age, a racer from the Kansas City metro area will soon put his talents to the test against others four (or more) times his age. Beginning on April 2, Luke Howard will compete at Valley Speedway in Grain Valley, Mo. on a near-regular basis with the Allstar Midget Series, making the step up from restricted micro sprints at Sweet Springs Motorsports Complex, 40 miles to the east.
Howard’s father Trevor bought the Chevy ECOtec-powered Stealth Chassis late last season, and Luke was able to run several practice laps in November before colder weather hit. This spring, he again got behind the wheel for practice. With instruction from the car’s former driver, Riley Kreisel, Howard was soon clicking off smooth laps, consistent with some of the more experienced drivers on the track, and ready for his upcoming first race. In addition, Richard Kreisel, Riley’s father, has provided irreplaceable help on preparing Howard for his upcoming endeavor, and will continue to anchor the Howard Racing Team with technical assistance.
When not in action at Valley, Howard will compete in the nonwing and A-Class micro divisions at Sweet Springs, while his nine-year-old brother Blake makes the move into Luke’s old division. Both brothers are coming off points championships at the sixth-mile oval in 2015; Luke in restricted and Blake in junior sprints. Behind the wheel of Pace Chassis micro sprint entries, the duo of “Lightning” Luke and “Thunder” Blake hope to storm to the front throughout the 2016 season, gaining experience in their new divisions and working toward victories by the end of the year.
