Howard Making Strides In Allstar Midget Competition

GRAIN VALLEY, Mo. – After just two events in his new division, Luke Howard is earning the respect of his competitors. Though the first try didn’t go as planned, when contact with another car jarred the intake loose from his machine, the second night out resulted in a top-ten finish at Valley Speedway in Grain Valley, Mo.
A solid car count of 19 checked in for competition in the Allstar Midget Series. For Howard, things didn’t start out as smoothly as he would have liked. From the pole of his heat race, the young Overland Park, Kan. racer wound up sixth when the checkered flag waved.
The main event lineup put young Howard in the 14th starting position. On lap one, Howard nearly spun out avoiding a slowing car in turn three, but kept control of the Chevrolet-powered Stealth Chassis. The racing surface got to full width, providing plenty of room for the young Howard to maneuver, but he powered too hard on lap six, spinning the machine to a stop in turn four. After a quick re-fire and return to the tail of the field, Howard rallied through with care. A caution flag with 14 in the books gave Howard new life, as he was riding in the 11th position and overtook for tenth on the restart to cap off his top-ten effort.

Howard is next scheduled to compete on April 29 at Sweet Springs Motorsports Complex in the No. 2 600cc micro sprint entry, and on April 30 at Valley Speedway in the No. 2 midget entry.
