Schmidt Goes To Victory Lane. Berry, Graham, Carter Gray Return, Chandler Wins $500.00
Marshalltown, Iowa (June 27th, 2025)
After Mother Nature cooperated and racing returned to "America’s Bucket List Track" with 109 total entries across six IMCA classes. It was $500.00 to win IMCA Sport Compacts presented by Minute Man Painting.
First to the track where the IMCA Mod Lites presented by Drury Automotive. Dillion Bush from Milo, IA, started on the pole after Garret Barber elected to start from the tail with Garrison Anderson from Huxley, IA, to his outside. Austin Gray, who started 5th, took the lead early and would never look back as he held off Bryan Zhem to secure the IMCA Mod Lites presented by Drury Automotive feature event. Chaz Baca, Josh May, and Jaxon Carr rounded out the top five.
Following the IMCA Mod Lites presented by Drury Automotive feature, it was time for the IMCA SportMods presented by Rugged Radios feature. Kaden Rice, from Mitchellville, IA, started on the pole with Matt Avila from Boone, IA, to his outside. Avila would get out to an early lead, but some early yellows helped Brayton Carter keep the gap close. Race fans saw Avila and Carter slide for the lead like it was nothing as Carter would get past Avila to secure the IMCA Mod Lites presented by Drury Automotive feature win. Will Wolf, Kyle Olson, and Colton Livezey would run a plus 11 to round out the top five.
Next to the track were the IMCA Hobby Stocks presented by Cappys Big 8 Tyre Center, geared up to go 20 laps. Dustin Filloon, from Tama, IA, started on the pole with Braden Gifford from Boone, IA, to his outside. Gifford, who took the lead early, was holding off challenges from the field until he drove it off turns one and two, which resulted in a caution and a restart. Bradly Graham and Eric Knutson battled it out for the win, but the 2G machine of Bradly Graham would secure the IMCA Hobby Stocks presented by Cappys Big 8 Tyre Center feature win. Eric Stanton, Solomon Bennett, and Corey Vanderbilt rounded out the top five.
It was time for the IMCA Stock Cars feature presented by Knight Sanitation. Braden Richards from Madrid, IA, started on the pole with West Branch, IA, native Jared Miller to his outside. Jay Schmidt took the lead early and never looked back as he dominated the 20-lap feature. Austin Meiners, Braden Richards, Thor Anderson, and Jimmy Gustin rounded out the top five.
Next up, it was time for the IMCA Sport Compacts presented by Hy-Vee. $500.00 was also on the line, presented by Minute Man Painting. Brad Chandler from Cedar Rapids, IA, started on the pole with New Virginia, IA, native David Kimmel. Katelynn Watts, who scored the winner, would get DQ after post-race inspection for illegal camshaft, meaning Brad Chandler, who dominated the race, would secure the
$500.00 IMCA Sport Compact feature presented by Hy-Vee and Minute Man Painting. Michael Gardner, Spencer Roggentien, Christian Grady, and Seth Meinders rounded out the top five.
It was time for a nightcap. The IMCA Modifieds feature presented by Tire Demon by Love Tap. Dustin Kroening, from Hebron, IL, started on the pole, and to his outside was 82, Jake McBirnie, from Boone, IA. Tom Berry Jr, a Marshalltown, IA native got out front early and dominated the 20 lap feature. Kollin Hibdon, Jake McBirnie, Joel Rust, and Justin O’Brien rounded out the top five.
We are off next Friday as it is July 4th, but we are right back at it on July 11th. Get ready for an awesome "Kids Night" at the Marshalltown Speedway on July 11th! We’re giving away bikes, doing a Candy Toss, and offering free popcorn. You can also get your face painted and take photos in the winner's circle. Kids can also meet select drivers before hot laps! Pits open at 5:15, with gates open at 5:30 and hot laps at 6:45, and racing to follow. The classes include IMCA Modifieds, Stock Cars, SportMods, Hobby Stocks, and Sport Compacts, and a special appearance of 2-man cruisers. Admission is $10 for adults and students and free for kids 10 and under thanks to Iowa's Best Country KIX 101.1fm. Pit passes are $30 for adults and kids aged 3-12. $15, and kids two and under are free in the pits but must have a minor waiver filled out.
