Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series Doubleheader On Deck

MONTEREY, Tenn. (04/22/25) – For the second time this season, Ricky Weiss parked his G-Style Transport / Derrick’s Sandblasting No. 7 Sniper Chassis Late Model in I-75 Raceway’s Victory Lane with a $10,053 triumph in Friday’s Schaeffer’s Spring Nationals event.

The Canadian transplant led every lap of the feature, fending off pressure from Cory Hedgecock to secure his overall third win of the 2025 campaign.

“We’ve just been working on these things real hard,” Weiss said regarding his self-designed Sniper Chassis. “I heard Cory (Hedgecock). I could see shadows. I saw him slide across my nose and I felt him one time. I was just trying to be smart out there like Jared Delk in that 604 crate race. How about those Sniper cars making a statement and I’m just proud to ride along with it!”

Weiss kicked off a doubleheader weekend in his newly-adopted home state of Tennessee with a pair of Schaeffer’s Spring Nationals miniseries events, as Friday’s race at I-75 Raceway in Sweetwater drew a competitive 40-car field.

With a full preliminary program on tap, Weiss backed up the third-fastest lap in his time trial group with a heat race win over John Ownbey. From the front row in the 53-lap main event, he quickly claimed the lead and maintained control throughout, fending off late-race challenges from Cory Hedgecock to capture the $10,053 victory.

The win marked his second triumph at the facility this season.

In the second leg of the Easter weekend doubleheader in Tennessee, Weiss lined up among 24 Spring Nationals competitors at Tazewell Speedway for the annual Lil' Bill Corum Memorial. With solid preliminary results earning him a spot on the second row for the $21,000-to-win feature, Weiss looked poised for a strong finish. However, mechanical troubles hampered his night, and despite running in the top five for the first of the race, he dropped to 11th after a lap-46 caution.

Weiss will sit idle this weekend as his team focuses on pivotal Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series doubleheader in Georgia and South Carolina. Action picks back up on May 2 at Lavonia Speedway, where $10,000 is up for grabs, followed by Saturday's $20,000-to-win Mike Duvall Memorial at Cherokee Speedway. Weiss heads into the weekend sitting fourth in the latest point standings.
