Gary Christian shows strength in XR Big Deal run

A second consecutive weekend of racing in the Land of 10,000 Lakes was on the docket for Gary Christian on Friday and Saturday as he competed in the $125,000-to-win XR Big Deal at Ogilive (Minnesota) Raceway.

On Friday, Christian was among 59 Modified drivers in the pit area at the 3/8-mile track for qualifying and heat races. He opened his evening by driving his Smith Equipment Company No. 58x machine to the second-quickest time in his qualifying group. He went on to win his heat after starting second, locking him into the following night’s main event.

Christian rolled off fourth to start Saturday’s 60-lapper but ran into trouble and recorded a DNF. He was scored as finishing 19th in the final rundown.
