Its a Jet Racing/Open Motor Kind Of Week
Starting out racing, all my cars were built in our shop but not gonna lie, always wanted to drive a Jet. Got the chance with a hobby and then a stock car and I was given the chance to make them better. Never wanted to stay in one class, always wanted to move up and given the chance, only 1 choice for me, a Jet. Learned a great deal from John and I have always treated him fair and he has returned that favor to me. You have no idea how awesome this is for me to take my Jet to Iowa and do so well with it, wanted to accomplish a lot for myself as well as Jet Racing and we have quite a ways to go yet but we have made some great progress. Being able to start trying and changing things to see what works is how we are able to get faster. 30+ years of racing and The Jet won back to back features at Eagle Raceway this past couple weeks. Really enjoyed hearing that he said, "Its never been the Jet car, its been the driver"
A crazy fact about my car is, when Jerry built my car, it was chassis #666, he asked me if I wanted that one or the next one, I am not superstitious and told him this one was fine. I'd say Jerry built me a fast race car!!
The open motor vs crate motor thing is a debate for someone much smarter than me but for me, its 100% about showing off all my Dads hard work and then to have all the great engine component people that have been with us for so many years, be able to have someone go out and get into Victory lane with an open motor. They are all trying to earn a living just like the rest of us and I sure like to do my part to make that happen for them. They are all like my family and have stuck by me through an awful lot of things, on and off the track.
Winning my last 4 races in a row has gave me the confidence to know that the step up in racing, was the right decision, cant thank everyone for hanging in there with me and for all the help I've gotten.
Layne has gotten to be at my last 2 wins and that is why I am in Iowa so this has been so special. Seeing him Sunday night running through the pits to get to Victory lane is so special for me. I think Layne likes these wins as much as I do. Have a great week everyone, AA
