Weekend Was Still A Win
Last minute decision was made to come back home to Beatrice, decision wasn't really made based on racing but more seeing my friends and family and celebrating the amazing week I'd had. Had a great time with my friends on Friday night and decided to load up and go race Eagle Raceway. Inside 3RD row of the 4th heat race and Horky's door somehow got hooked on my car and spun me around at the start. Whoever made the call that it was a single car yellow messed up but doesn't change anything and was sent to the pits, (Took me a few laps to make it there). We don't have the luxury of instant replay in our type of racing so it is what it is. Car had some issues and she had to sit the A feature out but really glad the bad luck happened there and not at Stuart as we are trying hard to get that Race Of Champions spot for the Boone Super Nationals. Everyone makes mistakes and we move on, still a fun race track and one I always will go race when I am home. Mom and Denny told Layne they would give him a $100 to give to someone in the Sport Mod feature finishing 2nd thru 10th, he drew the #10 card and it went to Team Icon and Scat Crankshafts Mary Lenz. They in turn are donating it back in tickets for upcoming races. Very cool response from their race team. We have worked very hard to make the fans a bigger part of our racing this season and the response from the Lenz race team, proves it is working. I challenge each and every one of you drivers to this coming weekend, donate something, a tshirt, a matchbox car, a $2 bill, anything, and give it to your race track and let them give it to the fans. The fans are why we are able to do this, when they quit showing up, we will be home and that will be a truly sad day. Layne has figured out already that race day, is a special day and I do my damndest to give that boy a show every week and keep myself in check.
My mom, comes up with a lot of the things we do each week but she asks me before she does any of them, I have to say, the coolest one yet has to be the new addition to the Adam Armstrong Racing team. Laynes crew shirt was just way too big and was gonna take a couple years before it would fit him so she said we should give it away. Seeing Easton with his shirt, proved to me that I am one of the luckiest guys in racing, getting to have a small part in making that little guys day. I didn't win on the track this week, but I sure won in several other ways and this was certainly one of them.
Went to Stuart last night and won my heat race and finished 3rd in the feature, so happy with our performance there. 1 more week for the regular season there, have really enjoyed racing there all season, this place is a blast to race at.
Have had some conversations with John at Jet Racing and really excited for what we have coming up. Really good feeling to have his confidence in me.
Another busy week with work and gonna try and get back to Beatrice again this coming weekend.
