Early exit for Illinois State Championship at Peoria Speedway

Competing in the second round of the MARS Racing Series doubleheader, Kolby Vandenbergh invaded Peoria Speedway (Peoria, Ill.) on Saturday night for the Illinois State Championship. Following the fifth fastest time in his qualifying group, Vandenbergh posted a fifth place finish in his heat race, transferring him into the B-Main for another shot at the $5,000-to-win A-Main. Streaking to an 8-lap consolation victory, Kolby locked into the 18th-starting position for the main event. Running into trouble early, Vandenbergh was early retiree from the 50-lapper on lap 19.
