Top-10 finish in Summer Nationals stop at Lincoln Speedway
Kolby Vandenbergh returned with the DIRTcar Summer Nationals on Friday evening at Fayette County Speedway (Brownstown, Ill.) for the 17th round of the Hell Tour. After coming one spot shy of a transfer spot in his heat race with a fifth place finish, Kolby scored a runner-up spot in his B-Main behind Rodney Melvin. Starting the $10,000-to-win A-Main in 18th, Vandenbergh marched forward seven positions in the 50-lap affair to register an 11th place finish. (Jim DenHamer photo)
The following night at Federated Raceway at I-55 (Pevely, Mo.), Vandenbergh timed in sixth fastest in his qualifying group before placing third in his heat. With $10,000 on the line in the feature, Kolby held his spot for all 50-laps to place 12th.
On Sunday evening at Lincoln Speedway (Lincoln, Ill.) for the $5,000 top prize, Kolby edged his way into the main event with a fourth place finish in his heat. Rolling off 11th, Vandenbergh gained two spots in the 40-lapper to come home ninth.
