Ashton Winger records strong weekend at I-55 after rought start with Hell Tour

Before the World of Outlaws weekend got underway, Ashton Winger made his way to Wilmot (Wis.) Raceway on Monday afternoon to catch a few extra races with the DIRTcar Summer National Hell Tour through Thursday.

After topping the speedcharts, Winger started fifth in the $5,000-to-win main event and took a tumble after hooking the curb in turns one and two. Ashton flipped over but was OK and returned to competition the following night.

Ashton landed on the podium at Davenport (Iowa) Speedway on Tuesday, finishing behind Ryan Gustin and Jake Timm before finishing 11th in the Thursday show at Lee County Speedway (Donnellson, Iowa).

Showing out during the World of Outlaw Real American Beer Late Model Series weekend, Winger scored a Top-5 finish in the $12,000-to-win opener and followed that up with a seventh-place outing in the $20,000-to-win finale.

Closing out the weekend back in Illinois, Ashton took a charge through the field at Lincoln (Ill.) Speedway and recorded a Top-10 in 10th.

Winger wound up fifth in the week two Hell Tour standings and remains 10th in the WoO standings.
