Ryan Timms Claims First Knoxville Raceway Victory; Busy Week Ahead
Four-Race Swing Starts Wednesday
OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (05/06/25) – 18-year-old Ryan Timms achieved a career milestone over the weekend, capturing his first 410 Sprint Car victory at the legendary Knoxville Raceway.
Driving the Liebig Motorsports / Hampel Oil / West River Trailer Sales & Service No. 10 Maxim Chassis, Timms outdueled five-time track champion Brian Brown to secure the $6,000 top prize and his first win of the 2025 season at the storied Sprint Car Capital of the World.
“I thought I had it put away once I got around Brown on lap three,” said Timms in Victory Lane. “I thought I should be able to walk away, and I was feeling really good. I was definitely not as perfect as I like to be. I saw Brown come in there (on lap 16), and I wasn’t expecting it at all. I kind of got out of it for a second, and he gave me room, so I got back on it to get around him. I was very thankful not to see him again after that. I’m just so stoked to win here at Knoxville. This is a place that was at the top of my bucket list. To knock it out so fast…I really wasn’t expecting it.”
Timms made a single appearance this past weekend, competing Saturday afternoon at the famed half-mile oval for the second round of the Knoxville Championship Series.
Among a 35-car field in time trials, Timms posted the fifth-fastest lap in the Liebig Motorsports entry before advancing two positions in his heat race to finish third. He rolled off from the third position in the feature and quickly surged to the front, briefly leading the opening lap. However, Knoxville veteran Brian Brown countered with a strong move to take the lead on lap two.
Timms, undeterred, transitioned to the high side and reclaimed the top spot on lap three. From there, the Oklahoma City native expertly navigated lapped traffic and fended off a late-race slider from Brown to secure his first victory of the 2025 season.
He edged Brown at the finish line by a narrow 0.196-second margin, while Austin McCarl completed the podium in third.
