Pospisil shows the way at Adams County Speedway
By Anthony Ainslie (Corning, IA) -- The defending Malvern Bank West Series Champion and point leader extended his advantage after a dominating run at Adams County Speedway.
Saturday was round five of the 2021 season for the Malvern Bank Super Late Models West Series as the tour made its first of two visits to Malvern Bank’s home Track, Adams County Speedway in Corning, Iowa. A field of 29 cars from Nebraska, Iowa and Missouri made the trip for the series’ 16th ever visit to the big half-mile oval at the Adams County Fairgrounds.
Todd Cooney started on the pole for the 30-lap finale and led the first two laps before Tad Pospisil took control of the lead as the field came off turn four on lap three.
As the race continued on, lapped traffic became a factor Pospisil. He had to pass cars quickly while second place Andrew Kosiski did all he could to run Pospisil down. Bill Leighton Jr. and Cooney had a spirited battle for fourth after Kyle Berck snuck by for the third position.
A pair of cautions came out in the final three laps. The first came out when Josh Leonard came to stop in turn two after breaking down. The second came out one lap later after Justin Zeitner spun out in turn four. The Malvern, Iowa driver made his way up to eighth after starting back in the 18th position.
This set up a green-white-checkered dash for the $3,000 paycheck. Posipisil nailed his marks on the restart and separated himself far enough to clinch his third win of the season. The victory also marked his second Malvern Bank West Series win at Adams County Speedway and his 27th all-time. Andrew Kosiski took second while Kyle Berck finished third. Bill Leighton Jr. and Ben Schaller rounded out the top five.
The Malvern Bank West Series finishes out the weekend on Sunday with the tour’s first of two visits to the Stuart International Speedway in Stuart, Iowa. After that, the series will visit Norfolk, Nebraska’s Off-Road Speedway on May 22nd for the first of two visits.
