Eckrich triumphs at C J Speedway
By Anthony Ainslie (Columbis Junction, IA) -- After the race initially got rained out over Memorial Day weekend, C J Speedway got their race day rescheduled, and the East Series made it to the big 4/10 mile oval at the Louisa County Fairgrounds in Columbus Junction, Iowa. A field of 25 cars made the trip to the speedway for round nine of the 2021 season.

Andy and Dave Eckrich started on the front row for the 30-lap main event. Andy the opening lap before Dave took control of the top spot. While Dave led, top qualifier Chad Holladay and Chris Simpson closed in to challenge for the lead.
Holladay took his shot and took the lead as the trio of drivers were working lapped traffic with only ten laps remaining. The Muscatine, Iowa driver led for four laps before Eckrich took the lead back and outran Holladay and Simpson to take the $3,000 payday.
The win marked Eckrich’s first ever East Series win and the 38th different feature winner with the Haulin’ with Hoker Trucking and Malvern Bank Super Late Models. Simpson snuck by on the last lap to take second while Holladay settled for third. Charlie McKenna and Andy Eckrich rounded out the top five.
The Iowa tripleheader weekend for the East Series continues on Friday with the tour’s first of two visits to the West Liberty Raceway followed by the tour’s first ever visit to the Maquoketa Speedway to finish out the weekend.
