Veteran Racer Mike Alleman Scores First Sprint Victory at Clinton County
Mill Hall; PA – Victory Lane was full of cheers and excitement following the 25 lap Sprint Car Feature event as the crew, family and friends of Mike Alleman rushed the car to congratulate him. Alleman from Port Royal won his first feature event Friday night at the Clinton County Speedway. Mac Wert was victorious in the 270 Micro Sprints; Colton Fries won the East Coast Legends and Matt Weaver won the 4 Cylinder feature.
Paul Moyer of Beaver Springs and Alleman started on the front row for the 25 lap main event. Alleman took the lead at the drop of the green flag. By lap number five, Alleman was leading Ken Duke of Winfield, Moyer, Timmy Bittner of Beech Creek, and John Walp of Wapwallopen.
Bittner, who set a new 10-lap track record earlier in the night, moved into the third position by lap number six. As the leaders were exiting turn number four on the 9th circuit, something mechanically broke on Bittner’s car, forcing him into the front stretch wall and that ended his evening.
Alleman restarted the race with Duke glued to his rear bumper followed by Paul Moyer, Matt Tebbs of Cogan Station and John Walp. On lap number 10, Tebbs passed Duke for the runner up position and Kasey Weaver of Everett charged into the top five.
With five laps remaining, Alleman was catching lapped traffic and the battle for second through fifth became intense as Tebbs and Duke traded positions lap after lap. Weaver entered the mix passing both Tebbs and Duke to take second on lap number 21. With the laps winding down, Alleman cautiously approached lapped traffic, which allowed Weaver, Duke, Tebbs and Jarrett Cavalet of Hollidaysburg an opportunity to spoil Alleman’s night. When the white flag was waving, Alleman had to navigate the four corners of the speedway without making any mistakes, with four drivers right behind him capable of winning the race.
As they exited turn four, Alleman raced to victory edging out Ken Duke by .383 seconds. Tebbs finished third followed by Weaver and Cavalet. Sixth through tenth were John Walp, Dale Schweikart, John Braim, Jeffrey Weaver, and Kruz Kepner. Heat races were won by Bittner, Tebbs and Weaver. Bittner set a new 10 -lap track record with a time of 2:09.291 breaking the mark set by Mike Koehler set on April 26, 2024.
In the 270 Micro Sprint Feature, fourth place starter, Mac Wert of Milroy took the lead by the completion of lap number one. At the completion of lap number five, Wert was leading Andrew Petock of Bloomsburg, Jeffrey Weaver of Lock Haven, Corey Stabley of Blanchard and Blade Myers of Lock Haven. Weaver moved into second by lap number six and Sabley took the third spot by the completion of lap number seven. The event’s only caution occurred on lap number ten when Michael Petock’s car stopped on the speedway. As Wert brought the field back to green flag racing conditions he had Weaver and Stabley in close contention. Wert continued to lead the final laps to earn his first win of the season over Weaver, Stabley, Alex Lukacs of Strasburg and Tom Quiggle of Lock Haven. Sixth through tenth were Andrew Petock, Blade Myers, Colton Guiher, Lester Stabley and Michael Petock. Heat races were won by Wert and Weaver.
Lincoln Kearchner was the pole sitter for the East Coast Legends main event. Kearchner took the lead with Logan Jones and Colton Friese in the top three. On lap number eight, Fries took the lead, shuffling Kearchner back to second followed by Jones and Seth Kearchner. Jones and Seth Kearchner battled for third place. In the closing stages of the race Friese and Lincoln Kearchner were in a contested battle for the win. The leaders touched racing back to the start finish line with Friese edging out Kearchner by .258 seconds. Seth Kearchner finished third, Logan Jones was fourth and Dalton Friese was fifth. Sixth through tenth were Kelby Friese, Tyler Kaylor, Steven Partin, Hunter McElroy and Benjamin Morrow. Heats were won by Jones, Seth Kearchner, and Colton Friese
Matt Weaver of Madisonburg started on the front row with Andrew Rickets of Jersey Shore for the 4 cylinder main event. Weaver took the lead as the field charged into turn one. Larry Beachel of New Columbia who started fifth marched this way towards the front of the field and challenged Weaver for the lead. By the completion of lap number five, Beachel was the new race leader only to have Weaver regain the lead on the following lap. Zak Kline made it a three car battle by the races midway point with Weaver leading Beachel, Kline, Ricketts and Tim TenEyck. On lap number ten, Kline wrestled the second position away from Beachel. At the finish, Weaver held on for the victory over Kline, Beachel, Lucas Garrett and TenEyck. Sixth through tenth were Coty Maines, Andrew Ricketts, Alyssa Snook, Ian Heaps and Dalton Lucas. Heat races were won by Kline and Weaver. Weaver set a new 5 lap records with a time of 1:29.743, breaking his old record set in 2023.
