Taylor, Lechota, Burton, and Cords Win on Food Pantry Night!
On United Way Food Pantry Night, Owosso Speedway fans did an amazing job for the community, donating hundreds of items to help feed the people of Shiawassee County!
Meyer Electric Pure Stocks would start things off with another barn burner of a feature event! Jordan Lechota would take the win, but it was not a small task. Several Championship caliber drivers kept Lechota within their crosshairs for a majority of the event. While many challengers would throw everything but the kitchen sink at Lechota, Jordan would hang on to take his first victory of the 2025 season! Jim Miller Jr. settled for second with Lonnie Saumier, Jason Spencer, and Nick Johnston completing the top five. Daniel Stewart, Bill Livesay, and Jason Spencer took heat race wins. Lechota was the hard charger and fast qualifier, turning a lap of 18.043 (74.82MPH).
A great field of Valley Truck Center Modifieds lined up for their 50 lap feature event next. Defending Champion Aaron Taylor, who has been plagued by awful luck all season so far, finally was able to get the monkey off of his back, as he would fend off numerous challenges from all around to take his first victory of the 2025 season! David McManus settled for second after a great battle, Lonnie Saumier would have his second podium finish of the night in third. Nick Clemens and Fred Cummings Jr. completed the top five. Heat races were won by Brad Springer, Scott Clifford, Terry Trost, and Austin Kryta. Damian Lytle won the B Feature. McManus was fast qualifier with a 15.061 (89.64MPH). Scott Clifford would get the hard charger bonus, advancing nine positions from the start of the race.
The Flory Crane Rental Sport Compacts would be the penultimate event of the night. Ryan Cords had been bad fast every time he came through the gates, but his fast car had been a bit of a glass cannon up to this point in the season. A lot of speed, but difficulty with reliability. But that jinx was finally shaken, with Cords able to slice his way through two former Champions to get to victory lane! 2023 Champion Nicholas Murdock was second, over Defending Champion Damian Watters, Pat Dent, and Randy Moore. Heat races were won by Noah Iseler, Dennis Motes, Andre Newman, Nolan Gross, and Damian Watters. Andre Newman won the B Feature. Cords was hard charger and quickest in qualifying with a 16.946 (79.66MPH).
The final feature of the night was the Michigan Paving and Materials All-American Trucks. It was a new race, but the exact same result, as Darren Burton continued his run of dominance, taking his third win of the season in as many starts. Burton started deep in the field, but was able to cut his way through the field once again. Mark Wilcox came home second, for his third straight podium finish. Josh DeLong was third in his first start of 2025. Charles Hamilton and Greg Long Jr. completed the top five. Long Jr. and Burton won the heat races, with Burton also picking up the hard charger honors and fast qualifier award with a 17.905 (75.40MPH).
