Ogilvie, MN (May 10) – It was a Mother’s Day Special Saturday night at Wagamon’s Ogilvie Raceway, and all mom’s in attendance were given a free beverage of their choice in their honor. WISSOTA Modifieds, Super Stocks, Midwest Modifieds, Street Stocks and Hornets were on hand, and put on another exciting night of WISSOTA Dirt Track Race Action.
The WISSOTA Street Stocks were first up for the night’s main events with Keith Tourville and Lucas Boyce on row one. Tourville grabbed the immediate lead with others three-wide for second. Jeff Ekdahl grabbed second while Thomas Worth and Levi Randt slid by Boyce. Randt looked solid in second while Worth had Tommy Pogones at his side. Laps passed quickly and Tourville was checked out until the yellow waved with five laps remaining. Keith Tourville was unphased by the last restart, as he went on to take the feature win. Levi Randt, Jeff Ekdahl, Tommy Pogones and Thomas Worth rounded out the top five points.
Garrett Paull and Ashley Boyum brought the Dirt Race Central WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds to the green with a stacked field 26 cars strong. Paull and Boyum were door to door the opening lap as Joey Jensen tucked in behind the leaders. Paull edged out the lead with Jensen close by, and after a caution, Jensen took over the top point. Cole Boston worked the high line and made his way to second while Boyum and Paull continued to battle for third. Drivers used all grooves of the race surface as Jensen closed in on slower drivers. The yellow made another appearance and Jensen’s lead was gone as drivers were sorted with Boston and Boyum on Jensen’s rear. Jake Smith and Boston kept close to Jensen on the restart, but Smith and Boston swapped for second, allowing Jensen to stretch his lead again. Joey Jensen won his second Ogilvie Raceway Midwest Modified feature while Cole Boston, Jake Smith, Landyn Randt and Ashley Boyum claimed top spots.
Jeremy Nelson shot into the lead as the Racer’s X Performance Parts WISSOTA Modifieds went green. Jason Gross grabbed second while Jody Bellefeuille, Travis Schulte and Tony Schill went three-wide for third. Schulte and Bellefeuille moved forward and challenged Gross to a three-wide fight for second and Schulte secured the point. Schulte looked ahead to try and spot Nelson, whose lead was over 4 seconds away. With just three laps to go, a driver lost his footing in turn four, and the yellow flag waved. Nelson’s impressive lead was gone as he had Bellefeuille and Ryan Gierke on his rear. Ryan Gierke raced to Nelson’s door and slid up the track to secure the lead the final couple laps and take the win. Jeremy Nelson finished in second with Jody Bellefeuille, Landon Atkinson and Jason Gross in the top five.
The Zoomies Race Engines WISSOTA Super Stocks went green with Ryan Kostreba continuing on where he left off last week, out front and in command. Dustin Nelson and Austin Niemeyer battled for second with Dylan Kromschroeder patiently waiting for them to settle. Nelson claimed the second point, but as laps passed, drivers in points two through four gathered together and raced side by side. Kromschroeder challenged Nelson, Dexton Koch battled Niemeyer with the white flag waving in the air. As the checkers waved, second through fifth was scored with Dylan Kromschroeder, Dustin Nelson, Dexton Koch and Austin Niemeyer, while Ryan Kostreba went to victory lane for his second week in a row.
The East Central Sports WISSOTA Hornets capped off the night’s events with Brendan Bockwitz, Tony Jenson and Riley Terry going three wide lap one. Bockwitz took the lead point as Bobie Arnes moved in to challenge Terry and Jenson. The top four drivers remained glued to one another as they circled the Big O, and Arnes made his way into the top spot. The Hornets were putting on a show, and as they raced three-wide, contact occurred. A couple drivers bounced off the wall and the yellow waved while everyone was checked out. Only a couple laps remained in the race, and as it resumed, no one came close to Bobie Arnes as he took the win with Brendan Bockwitz, Tony Jenson, Eric Pfundt and Nikota Larson in the top five.
The KME WISSOTA Late Models will be back at the Big O next weekend along with our five other regular classes for more exciting WISSOTA Dirt Track Race Action. Racing begins at 6:30pm.
