Parker Martin
Martin attends Last Call at the Dirt Track at Charlotte
Wednesday night found Parker Martin in action at the Dirt Track at Charlotte (Concord, N.C.) for the Last Call, the event replacing the Can-Am World finals due to Covid-19 restrictions. In a stout field of 55 World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series entries, Parker edged his way into the opening night feature with the third and final transfer spot in his heat race. With $12,000 on the line, Martin was an early retiree from the 50-lapper on lap 24. He was credited with a 21st place outing.
The following night, Martin posted a third place finish in his heat, which positioned him 16th on the starting grid for the $12,000-to-win finale. He was one of four cars that retired on lap 20 while being credited with a 24th place finish. (Zach Yost photo)
On Saturday afternoon at East Alabama Motor Speedway (Phenix City, Ala.) for the 46th annual National 100, Parker came in eighth in his time trial group before placing fourth in his heat.
Earning the 12th-starting position for Sunday night’s $15,000-to-win National 100, Martin snuck into the Top-10 early and started to become a factor for the lead late in the 100-lapper. Blowing past race-long pacesetter Dale McDowell on lap 83, Parker jumped out to a commanding lead until a pair of late-race cautions set up a shootout over the final two circuits. After contact with the leader resulted in a second-place finish, Martin was eventually disqualified after that race that positioned him 23rd on the final rundown.
He finished 23rd in the $3,000-to-win Crate Late Model feature.
