11th place finish in NASCAR weekend opener at TST

Pulling double duty in the Super and Crate Late Model ranks, Parker Martin visited Talladega Short Track (Eastaboga, Ala.) on Friday night for NASCAR weekend. In a field of 26 cars, Martin posted the 21st fastest lap overall in time trials, which positioned him on the 11th row for the opening night feature. Coming one spot shy of a Top-10 finish, Parker marched forward 10 spots to place 11th.

Drawing 35 Crate Racin’ USA series entries, Martin came in 15th fastest in qualifying, transferring him into the B-Main for another shot at the A-Main. Locking in the Top 4, Parker came one spot short with a fifth place outing.

For the $3,000-to-win B.J. Parker Memorial on Saturday, Parker followed up the 11th fastest time in his group with a third place finish in his B-Main. Slated to start the main event in 23rd, Martin was one of seven cars that failed to complete a lap.

In his Crate, Martin logged the eighth fastest time in his qualifying group, transferring him into the B-Main. Finishing second behind T.J. Brittain, Parker earned the 16th-starting position for the A-Main. With $2,500 on the line, Parker Martin pulled off early with nine-to-go.
