Top-10 finish with Malvern Bank West Series at Huset's Speedway
CJ Horn’s busy race week began Wednesday at West Liberty Raceway, where he competed in the Karl Chevrolet Pro Late Model Tour event.
Horn opened the week on a strong note, backing up a third-place finish in his heat race with a solid fifth-place performance in the feature.
On Thursday, Horn headed to South Dakota to join a 28-car Malvern Bank West Series field at Huset’s Speedway as part of the Silver Dollar Nationals weekend. After finishing sixth in his heat race on Thursday, Horn charged through the pack in Friday’s $6,053-to-win A-Main, advancing six positions to finish 10th.
With the track adding bonus on Saturday for cars that stuck around, Horn stayed to make his Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series debut during the final night of the 15th annual Silver Dollar Nationals weekend. Despite being hampered by an underpowered motor, Horn nearly secured a spot in the $75,000-to-win finale. He finished seventh in his heat and climbed to fifth in his consolation race, falling just two positions short of a transfer.
