Starks Produces Runner-Up Result During Season-Opening Race

Inside Line Promotions – ELMA, Wash. (April 21, 2025) – Trey Starks kicked off his season with a podium performance for the fourth straight year last Saturday at Grays Harbor Raceway.

“We were on the fence about racing, but one of the deciding factors was the weather was looking good,” he said. “Also, we changed a few things during the offseason, including a new trailer we’re working out of. It might not sound important, but we wanted to get a night under our belt operating out of the new trailer so that going into the Skagit opener we were ready to go. I’d say for how the night went, it went exactly how we intended it to go.”

Starks qualified second quickest before he won a heat race from the fourth starting position. He lined up on the inside of the second row in the main event.

“There were fast cars in front and around us despite the lower car count,” he said. “We fell to fourth on the start. I got back to third in the first couple of laps. We had a restart I think five laps in and I got to second. We had two or three more restarts throughout the race. I got really close to the leader on a couple of the restarts, but couldn’t quite seal the deal. Maybe if we had a little longer green-flag run where we could have gotten to traffic or had more laps in a row I could have made something happen, but in clean air during the medium length runs we were too equal.”

Starks’ runner-up result marked his fifth straight podium at Grays Harbor Raceway.

Next up is the Skagit Speedway season opener this Saturday. Starks has won the 410ci winged sprint car owners championship at the dirt track in Alger, Wash., each of the last three seasons.
