LEAD LAP FINISH FOR MURPHY AT MARTINSVILLE

LEAD LAP FINISH FOR MURPHY AT MARTINSVILLE

11/3/15

Monday October 26th was just like any other Monday for Camden. He just so happened to be in downtown Chicago in the afternoon when he received "The Call". Every driver that is pursuing a career in racing always waits for "The Call" from a team looking for a driver. In this case it was Rick Ware Racing and MAKE Motorsports looking for a driver for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at Martinsville Virginia on October 31st. Unfortunately he needed to come up with just enough funding to make it happen. But with only a day and a half to find what was needed, it was thought to be almost impossible. Under pressure to make it happen , Murphy wasted no time. Tuesday was the day to find the partners that would help in such a short period of time. By lunch Wednesday, he was still behind. Luckily, by 3pm we had some awesome partners hop on board that made it possible! With that being said, we would like to Thank Nortown Automotive, Racinghalloffamecollection.com, Racingin.com, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Chicagoland and Northwestern Indiana, Car Doctor Jr., O'Hare auto Body, Mark Signs, Tinkle Family Racing, Larry and Nicky Liotta, David and Kyle Brinkmann, TJ Photography, and Mitch Garfield for hopping on board at the last minute to make this opportunity happen and to Rick Ware Racing and MAKE Motorsports for the opportunity and we hope to be able to do it again!

It was a done deal by 4pm and Camden had to hustle to get everything figured out. With the time crunch that he was given, he had to leave that night at 11:30pm to get to the track the next day by 1pm for Tech. Friday, October 30th was practice day. Right off the start we struggled but the team worked their tales off to get the truck better for the second practice. Being on a limited budget, we decided to stay on the same tires for both practice sessions. Leading into qualifying, we were not sure what to expect with the field being one of the toughest in a while with many experienced veteran drivers. After our qualifying run we ended up falling into the 31st starting position.

At the drop of the green flag for the Kroger 200, the #1 Nortown Automotive Chevy was slowly making moves. At about half way the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Chicagoland and Northwestern Indiana team worked very hard to make some adjustments to the truck. Camden was doing his best to just keep the truck out of trouble and on the lead lap. With about 30 to go, everyone was on edge. Making aggressive moves left and right the #1 Nortown Automotive Chevy was able to stay out of as much trouble as possible. With the laps winding down and with a Green-White-Checkered finish about to happen, Camden was sitting in the 21st position. On the restart Murphy was starting on the outside which is not the best place being that there is not a lot of grip there at the flat paper clip 1/2 mile track. At the drop of the final green flag he had gotten passed by a few trucks to fall to the 24th position. At the drop of the Checkered Murphy was able to successfully bring home the truck in once piece .

After successfully finishing his 2nd career NASCAR Camping World Truck Series on the lead lap and in one piece, Murphy hopes to be able to continue on his career while opening up more opportunities in NASCAR. For the remainder of the 2015 NCWTS season, Camden will be working with the veteran team SS Green Light Racing of Mooresville, NC starting with Texas Motor Speedway this coming weekend hoping to create more opportunities for the upcoming season.

Once again, a HUGE Thank you to the partners we had come on board to help us out this weekend to make it possible. Nortown Automotive, Racinghalloffamecollection.com, Racingin.com, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Chicagoland and Northwestern Indiana, Car Doctor Jr., O'Hare auto Body, Mark Signs, Tinkle Family Racing, Larry and Nicky Liotta, David and Kyle Brinkmann, TJ Photography, and Mitch Garfield for hopping on board at the last minute to make this opportunity happen and to Rick Ware Racing and MAKE Motorsports for the opportunity.
