Pozsgai Wins at Spring Creek Speedway
Max Pozsgai of Lincoln IL, was able to take the checkered in a dominant performance in the wing feature last night at Spring Creek Speedway (Macomb IL). There was a good field of 16 cars on hand for the first ever wing 600 micro sprint race at Spring Creek Speedway. There were a few new drivers visiting the track, which is what we like to see at Spring Creek. The track stayed fairly tacky all night, which made it very fast and had multiple grooves. Max Pozsgai started off the night by winning the first heat. Andrew Funk won the second heat race. Funk and Pozsgai would start on the front row for the feature. When the green flag first waved for the feature, Pozsgai immediately got to work as he passed Funk for the lead on the high side. From there on Pozsgai would never look back, but he would be contested by the 2010 Iowa Micro Sprint Series points champion, Ben Woods. Woods was able to make his way from 6th to 2nd to try to challenge Pozsgai for the lead. On lap 17, a car would slow down on the track to bring out a caution and bunch up the field. Pozsgai would lead the field around for the restart with Woods right behind him in 2nd and Devin Feger of Peoria IL, in 3rd. Max Pozsgai maintained the lead until the checkered flag waved, followed by Ben Woods in 2nd, Devin Feger in 3rd, Gedd Ross in 4th, and Brad Funk was able to come from the back to grab 5th place. Congrats to Max Pozsgai with the impressive win in his first time out at Spring Creek Speedway. Thanks to everyone that came and made it a great race!
