Multiple King of America XIV feature starts for Christian

Wheatland, Missouri’s Lucas Oil Speedway hosted more than 70 Summit USMTS Modifieds from Thursday through Saturday, including Gary Christian’s TruePay No. 58x machine. Christian came away from the three-day King of America XIV with a pair of feature appearances at the “Diamond of Dirt Tracks.”

During Thursday’s opening-night program at the 3/8-mile oval, Christian was unable to move into the feature through his heat race or B-Main, but used a provisional to start 26th in the night’s 30-lap, $3,000-to-win main event. He was marching forward but got too high in turn one around halfway and hit the wall, forcing him to pit with substantial damage. He came home in the 28th spot.

On Friday, Christian again could not make the A-Main through his heat and came up one spot shy of an automatic transfer in his consolation race. However, he used an emergency provisional to claim the 32nd starting position in the night’s $5,000-to-win 40-lapper. He finished 26th.

The next night, Christian started 12th and finished 19th in his Last Chance Qualifier for the 60-lap, $20,000-to-win finale, bringing his weekend to a close.

After the Lucas Oil Speedway shows, Christian occupies 11th place in the Summit USMTS National Championship standings.
