Carson Ferguson scores Top-5 finish in Winter Nationals opener at Ocala Speedway

Primed for five days straight of racing, Carson Ferguson and the Paylor Motorsports team rolled into Ocala (Fla.) Speedway on Tuesday afternoon for the first night of competition with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series.

For the week's opener, Ferguson stopped the clock second-fastest in his qualifying group and picked up a heat race victory. Carson started the $7,000-to-win feature from the second-row and wound up just off the podium in fourth. He trailed Devin Moran, Brandon Overton, and Jonathan Davenport while Hudson O'Neal completed the Top-5.

On Wednesday, Ferguson grabbed the final transfer spot in his B-Main and finished 22nd.

For the first points night on Thursday evening, Carson took a provisional starting spot and finished 20th. Friday saw Ferguson grab a transfer spot in his heat race and finish the $12,000-to-win feature in 13th.

Finding speed for Saturday's $25,000-to-win finale, Ferguson was running inside the Top-10 before a flat tire ended his feature.
